Ladies: We asked and you answered!

Last year, a transition team began working to develop more ministry opportunities for women at FFC. Successful programs such as MOPS, women’s circles and the Beth Moore studies provided a strong foundation on which to build. The goal was to identify the needs and desires of women who already enjoy these programs, as well as gain input from women not currently involved in any programming for women.

Our leadership team partnered with a professional research and marketing company in Texas. This firm guided us throughout the project (free of charge). Our research partner developed a multi-step research approach using one-on-one interviews and surveys to collect the most accurate information. The results are in and they are astonishing!
Half of the surveys passed out were completed, providing a wonderful response. Of the women who filled out surveys, half were currently enjoying Women’s Ministry programs and half were not involved in any women’s ministry activity.
The surveys showed that women currently involved in women’s ministries are generally older in age, while non-participants were typically younger. The feedback showed that programs for young mothers and seniors are well developed, while there may be a need for programs for women in other life stages.
Activities combining fitness and spirituality, one-on-one mentoring and weeknight drop- in events were among some of the strongest suggestions. Scheduling and time constraints were big barriers for participation, while making connections with other women and spiritual growth were great motivators for involvement.
The next step is to engage a variety of leaders who will use the responses and suggestions to expand the ministry to create new programs with many opportunities for women in all life-stages. Ahhhhh…it really was all about “what a girl wants”.
